Grannies In High Heels

Eat Drink Man Woman

I just finished watching a movie that I felt particularly "my", "Eat Drink Man Woman" by Ang Lee.

tells the story of an old Chinese cook, a widower, who lives with her three daughters in a house in Taipei.

The story revolves around the family's dishes prepared by his father, especially at the Sunday feast day when the four get together.

Food and love are indissolubly linked: food as a form of love and communication, and love as nourishment of the soul.

father who cooks to show his affection to his daughters, (and never leave cooking), and no longer feels the taste of what the kitchen, the favorite daughter who can not get out of the shell in which confines and stifle her need for love, and who is unable to have a peaceful relationship with its parent .. The elder prisoner of a childhood love invented, and the child, leaving the school because she became pregnant by a guy just met ..

The film ends with the reconciliation between father and daughter's favorite .. thanks to a dinner prepared by her lucullliana: suddenly, the old cook begins to feel again the taste ...

A tender film, actually ... hand painted, accompanied by typical oriental atmosphere, pervaded by a culture thousands of years ago and the gesture of a particular art, inaccessible to us.

leave you with two sentences of the film that impressed me a lot:

".... What you want you can not have

do not want and what you can not get rid of it .. "

".. Life is not like cooking.

We can not wait until all ingredients are ready to go .."

Enjoy
